Destination Earth

The film that I watched was a cartoon titled Destination Earth. The cartoon was made in 1956 and discusses oil and competition. The plot of the cartoon is that Martians need energy so they go to the planet Earth to look for ideas. The martian that goes to Earth lands in the USA and learns all about oil there. The cartoon then shows the martian explaining all about how petroleum and oil work and the many products that can be made of it. He also finds out that oil is the most important resource in America and helps make America great. The martian also learns about competition and how competition is also great for America and helps make America better than any other country on the planet. The film was released by the American Petroleum Institute as a way to show how good oil and competition are for America. I find this video still relevant today. Competition is part of what keeps industry going and makes America go. The end of the film shows the martians all starting to compete for oil and they seem to be much more content then they were before under a leader they clearly disliked. The film was released by the American Petroleum Institute as a way to show how good oil and competition are for America.
