After doing a geodemographic market analysis on myself I
found some interesting information. By typing my phone number into white pages
you can find out my service provider is Verizon and I live near Minneapolis,
MN. From the American fact finder website it gives a bunch of demographics on
the population of my city. You can conclude that I come from a population of
12,842 that is mainly white. It is also concluded with the New York Times
Mapping America that my town is 85% white. As far as googling my name nothing
related to me comes up. This is probably because I have a pretty common name
and apparently that is the name of a musician. I get similar results when I
search my name on social media because my name is common. I do not even see my
actual account of the first page of any of the searches. As far as what
information is out on the Internet of me doesn’t scare me too much. You can
find general locations based off my phone number, but it comes up with my home
address, not where I live for 8 months out of the year. Overall, I think this
activity was interesting because it shows that even though there is a lot of information
about you out on the Internet, most of it is not accessible to the general
public.
Nice work! I found it interesting to see how many people have common names and that it could be difficult to track yourself through Google even if you have Facebook or Twitter.
